When you come from a line of collision repair shop owners on both sides of the family, it’s a foregone conclusion that your life will revolve around cars in one way or another. Luke Mesiti has gone the extra mile though, and entrenched himself in the scene of car modification in Australia.
“My mum’s brothers and my older cousins always had nice cars and it motivated me to do the same one day,” Mesiti says. “I bought my car in 2014, off of an older gentleman that happily handed over the reins of a completely stock and immaculate Evo VIII.”
Even with all the family experience, Mesiti’s previous S2000 was unsaveable after an accident that was no fault of his own. Thankfully, he walked away fine and right into this Evo with an orange-tinted vision in mind. Between himself and his brother, in two weeks time, the outside of the Evo had been stripped down and repaired of any imperfections that could show through a glass-like orange pearl paint job.
This same color bleeds into the engine bay on the HKS cold air intake and the strut tower bar. Contrasting is the marbled purple rocker cover of the 4G63, which has been given a custom manifold with an upgraded GT Pumps 712 turbo on the end of it. Between the snail, the Powertune ECU flash and a few other go-fast goodies, this Evo VIII puts down 400 horses to all four wheels.
Would it shock you that there’s more orange on the inside of the Evo as well? It shouldn’t. Several interior panels and the dash are covered in orange pearl, while carbon fiber accents on the Sparco steering wheel and gauge pods mirror the carbon fiber accents around the outside of the car.
“My brother helped me build it from start to finish,” Mesiti reflects. “He painted the whole car and made it look flawless. The orange paint suits the Evo so much and shows off the amazing bodywork and shape of the car.”
With future plans in the works to refresh the engine and output even more power, it’s safe to say that we’re in store for even stronger doses of vitamin D from this Evo VIII.
