The latest Mustang offering from Ford, the S550 has been an instant hit. The ample performance and sleek styling have propelled the Mustang directly to the forefront of modification culture, largely with the help of widespread aftermarket support. One of the latest additions to that aftermarket is Clinched Flares.
The company totes that the kit is 鈥渘ot for the feint of heart鈥 because of its extreme design language and wild dimensions. Adding 3.6 inches of width up front, and 4.7 inches in the rear, the kit certainly adds a lot to the Mustang鈥檚 shape. The kit fits all variations of the S550 platform, including convertibles, and will even fit the GT350/GT350R with some additional custom work on the front end.
Instead of supplying rubber gaskets and hardware with every kit purchase, those parts are optional. It seems Clinched knows a few customers would rather have their flares blended in. If you are looking for the exposed hardware look, you can choose one of three hardware styles. Available in both FRP and carbon fiber, the kit ranges from $5,990 to $13,950 USD.
It鈥檚 worth noting that the kit will, as expected, allow S550 owners to run much bigger wheels. As a point of reference, the black one we saw at SEMA 2017 was sitting on 20x13 -55 wheels wrapped in 315-mm wide rear tires with room to spare for up to 345s. We鈥檙e sure we haven鈥檛 seen the last of wild Clinched creations.
