Vehicle remote start systems have been around for decades. Starting with basic systems that mimicked wiring in key cylinder, modern systems now communicate directly with your car computer and can send commands to do almost anything. These modern data-based systems have opened many options for consumers and Clifford is at the leading edge of remote innovation.
Clifford offers remote start solutions at modest price points. If you own a late model vehicle like an Audi, BMW, Buick, Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, GMC, Hyundai, Infiniti, Lexus, Nissan, Toyota or Volkswagen with push-button or tip-start (turning and releasing the key, while the car takes care of the appropriate cranking time), your Clifford dealer can simply add a remote starter while allowing you to use your original factory keyless entry remote. Once installed, just press the lock button on the remote three times to start your car. On many vehicles, you can also turn on your heated seats to a predetermined temperature setting. Clifford calls this “Remote Start Ready.”
For added convenience, your Clifford dealer can add either one- or two-way RF remote controls to the above system. This will dramatically increase range, allowing you to control your car from up to one mile (two kilometres) away. In the case of the two-way remotes, you will be notified once the car is started. Many of these systems also monitor the factory security system, so if the factory alarm goes off, you will be paged on your two-way remote.
If your car came with a remote start from the factory (not installed at the dealer) like a General Motors product, or some new Fords and Lincolns, you can increase the range of the system with the same technology and a set of aftermarket remotes. Clifford calls this “Range Extender Ready” and it is a great way to start your car from inside the mall or office.
The next step would be to add a Clifford Smart-Start system, allowing you to control your remote start system and door locks from your Android, iPhone and Blackberry smartphone. It can be used anywhere you have a cellular data communication link for full two-way control over your vehicle. You can even upgrade the system on iPhone and Android devices to include GPS locating, including a number of location based warnings, including alerts if your vehicle leaves a certain area during a specific time.
Clifford has also launched a full line of remote start systems for late model Mercedes-Benz vehicles. With years of testing and development, they provide seamless integration with the factory key fob. Once started, all the advanced Mercedes-Benz features, like walking towards the idling vehicle, opening the door and pressing the start button remain fully functional. You can also add Clifford remotes or Smart Start to these systems easily to further increase convenience.
Clifford continues to work to add support for new vehicles every day, including software updates to support new vehicle features and functionality. It’s a great time to be in the market for a remote start system – there have never been so many options!
